Not a good weekend on paper but to be as close to top gusy as we are is good for us.

It was my mistake clearly on Friday and I was too optimistic on the hard tyre and didn't have the feeling. After that I got back the feeling and the epace has been fanstastic. Now I know the hard tyre a bit more today for the Canary Islands. Very sorry to the team for not getting the result we deserve. It is a long long way to go.

It's very, very shiny in the middle part, like so slippery. No one's gave up in the team, even in the tyre fitting zones and Eoin especially - to do the job he's doing at the moment to try and manage it. Maybe the time sheets don't say all the work that's been to get here, but yeah, it's a nice relief to come with everything in white and no red dials on my dash.

I don't know what mixture Elfyn had, but yeah, it's difficult to stop them from sort of sliding and overheating, but still a good time. I mean, it's never bad if you're that far away from these guys, so. Okay, we can keep learning and we'll keep getting closer, so that's what we'll try to do.

I was very careful in here in some of the sections where there was a lot of gravel. And for the rest of the stage, I drove as I feel at the moment. Obviously we would have enjoyed more the fight with them [Pajari and Katsuta] because it's always easier when you are on it and fighting with someone. But that's rallying, it's very, very tough sometimes. And unfortunately, my opponents got hit by punctures today.

I just want to get through today and make sure we've got all four wheels on the wagon when we get back.

So it was kind of one of those stages where it felt comfortable, so maybe you could then push a bit more if you wanted, which is not a bad place to be.
